January's Joint: The Quarternary Night

Like a protein molecule with more than one strand of protein attached to it, it is time to start planning for the quaternary night (quaternary structure of a protein ... forgive the nerd jokes).

So my younger brother would like to attend one of these 'ere film fests, which he has dubbed "moldy crust" film fest, before he heads back to school in Phili, so I need to select a film and host it before the 18th. Most likely Monday the 12th or Weds the 14th since Thursdays I have a late class. Ho hum ...

So now I need a film!!! I want something cool, fun and of course the usual - cultish, controversial, discussion generating.

City of God is my default but I want to go mining for other great films to show. I've been watching plenty so far this break. Not sure I should show them but do they ever stimulate me to write!

Stay tuned amigos and amigas, and I am open to opinions. I want a film that will blow my younger bro's socks off. Shame he missed the coolness that was The Warriors; although I might just do an encore showing sometime at the end of the school year.

Warrriors Flyer and a Quick Tale

Enjoy!

Quick tale ...

So I approached my dad. "Hey dad, have you heard about this film called The Warriors ..." and then I went on to explain to him about the film. "Oh" he says "I saw a film like that years ago." "What?" I replied. "I was in my twenties ..."

"I was in my twenties ..."

That statement hits home with me. My dad could have been any of those guys in this movie - he's the same age. I find that funny. This film is considered a cult, late night movie classic. It will always appeal to my demographic, both in the past and now.
