Next Film: Persepolis

Debuting November 13th for the second installment of the Moldy Cassette Film Fest is a nice flick released last year entitled: Persepolis.

Persepolis is the autobiography of Marjane, an Iranian woman who decided who tell her childhood story first as a graphic novel and later in this movie. The movie is animated and done in black and white in a style exactly like the comic.

The theme?: Hmmm ... I suppose it can be "Unpredictable Social Futures". This film is very relevant to now in how society can flow along one tangent and instantly change. You can say an apocalypse has occur which has "ended the world as we know it". Things change, sometimes not for the better. Whole society become disrupted. With the financial problems of this sector of the world, Persepolis can be looked at as a personal been there, done that - here's how you cope.

And What A Night It Was

Well it was very quaint and there was lots of food. The sound was punky and electronics are mean, there was a class going on next door, and my computer betrayed meh ... other than that it was a good romp. Got to be the ol' femme fatale projectionist again. Friends and family came out and a handful of strangers. Hopefully next event more strangers will rear their shy heads and come on down.

I've learned soem things for next time though:

1. Food is definitely a strong point so have plenty of it and advertise it. We found a large sheet on a stand and stuck it out in the hall way leading to the Blue Room with the words "Movie and FREE Food. <-- Blue Room". I think that drew in some folk. November's flyer is going to emphasize the free food.

2. Start advertising the week of or the week before. Send out email flyers the week of. Utilize sources the week f the event. People forget or other things come up.

3. Make the flyer more simple and straight forward. A smaller logo; bigger ad for the movie; bigger time and location and other such info; take out all that filler crap. They can read that here.

Look for PICS of the event to be posted soon!!!!!!!!!

See Y'all Tonight!

Hey everyone and all. The fruit of our labor has ripened and is falling off the tree now with its moldy stinky fruit self. In non-crazy person speech, tonight it the premiere night of the Moldy Cassette Film Fest. I am very excited and even if no one shows up, well more popcorn for me! Actually, if no one shows up I will still put these on once a month until I am finished at Bermuda college, censoring process and everything. I would just like for this alternative entertainment option to always be available for you and yours.

As a special bonus, the rents' came through for me and helped out in the cash area, so now I have extra goodies for you all to enjoy. Donations for food are still welcomed.

Finally I would like to thank my guidance counselor for without whom this would have never ever never ever never been possible!

See ya'll tonight!

Where is the Blue Room?

The Blue Room is located in New Hall. New Hall is the building between Student Hall and North Hall, both of which are along college road. From the vantage point of the library, New Hall is the building facing the steps leading down from the library. Its the only building along college road whose doors automatically slide open.

The blue room is on the first floor of new hall. There are two wings, one with labs and one with classrooms. Go down the side with classrooms, turn the corner and go straight down and you'll see a blue room - the blue room!

I will have signs posted in New Hall to make it easier on you. When in doubt just go to security or ask people on campus where the mahecka is New Hall and the Blue Room. It's really not hard for this is such a small campus.

Here's a campus map that'll help (click on it to enlarge) and print it out if you think you need the help:

Question about the "donation": I'm Giving you Grub Darnit!!!

So, to answer any questions about the $5 food (grub) donation, I shall start with what's on the menu for Oct 16th:

Popcorn
Water
Maybe some drinks
All on a first come first serve basis

I would like to provide more and better snacks, plenty for everyone, BUT the College is giving me no money for this so I am left to feed you all out of my own extremely shallow pockets. I'm a student with a very busy schedule so I can't afford to work (working vs A's - I'll take the A's thank you). I was able to get a quick weekend gig, so the mollah I made from that will be going right into your bellies. So as you can see, a simple 5 dollar donation for the November showing would ensure happier bellies next time around. Even a dollar or two would help.

Cool, thanks!
